Reminiscence is a powerful double prediction, ideal for both mentalists and magicians.
The mentalist invites the audience to revisit their primary school memories. He displays an envelope, leaving it in plain sight, and then addresses a first spectator:
"Imagine you are six years old and at school. The teacher writes '2 + 2 =' on the blackboard. She asks you to write the answer. You stand up; all your classmates are watching you... You take the chalk and write... but you are so nervous that you don't write '4'. Instead, you write a different number—a two-digit number."
The spectator secretly writes this number on a pad, tears off the sheet, and keeps it.
The mentalist then turns to a second spectator and talks about the drawings they used to make on the blackboard at school. He shows a pad filled with various drawings and asks the spectator to choose one without revealing it. The spectator then imagines drawing that image in chalk.
The mentalist picks up the envelope (which has remained in plain view the entire time) and asks the spectators to reveal—for the first time—the number and the drawing they had in mind. For example, they announce "43" and "a boat."
He then pulls a slate from the envelope featuring the exact inscription "2 + 2 = 43," along with a large drawing of a boat!
